Balloo Collection
This collection revolves around the use of Spacer fabric, a three-dimensional textile. This particular sort of woven fabric is made of two parallel layers and perpendicular spacer threads, which strengthen and keep the layers separate. This structure offers both a thickness and an ability to absorb shocks, but with a minimal weight. Michel Giesbrecht wanted to combine these specific qualities within a range of bags: the challenge consisted of creating a bag that was both as strong and as light as nets. In other words, it was a question of giving shape to emptiness. The designer works with soft, rounded, and voluptuous shapes. A permeable and translucent skin provides an additional layer, thus forming a waterproof enclosure. As a final touch, he adds leather straps and brass buckles borrowed from traditional leatherware, thus creating a contrast with the initial high tech fabric. The shopping bag of the 21st century is finally available.
