Oscar Diaz at the London Design Festival

Tuesday 10 November 2009

Design Parade 04 contestant Oscar Diaz was shown at the London Design Festival in September as part of an exhibition called Eyes on Spanish Design at 100% Design.

Oscar designed a set of glass vases for a project named RGB Vases.

The project brings together a century old technique: glass blowing, with our contemporary culture in which screens (and their Red Green and Blue color combination system) play a leading role.

Each vase is made using a specific value of red, green and blue.

Once these 3 hues are combined, the 3 vases placed inside one another, a specific purple appears: P242.

This P242 purple is obtained by carefully choosing and balancing, by computer, the values of red, green and blue.

How does it translate into our vision of our world ? What heritage does it build ? When the beauty and grace of a good logo meets visual abundancy …

A three year project, LOGORAMA will be shown in Cannes this spring and at the Pompidou Center later this year. In Hyères, the screening will be followed by a debate lead by Walter Bettens, editor in chief of DAMn° magazine. (reservations required)

Preparing Design PARADE 04: Jerszy Seymour in Vienna

Tuesday 4 November 2008

Jerszy Seymour will show his work at the villa Noailles for Design PARADE 04. The Berlin based designer, a member of the DP03 jury is involved in design in two specific directions: mass market products with Magis and Moulinex, for example, and very radical research projects on the other side.

In July 2009, Jerszy will show the third and last part of a project started this october at the MAK in Vienna. The designer explores the idea of coalition, the idea of a group of people, of different personalities working together on a common project.  In Vienna it took the shape of a great gathering for a diner. At the MUDAM later this year, the participants will build furniture together.

What will it be at the villa ? Find out on July 3, 4 and 5 of 2009 in Hyères !
